1. Run CHKDSK

To run CHKDSK,
- Insert the installation media
- Restart the PC
- Boot from the installation media
- Choose your language
- Press Shift + F10
- Type and press Enter after the command
2. Restore Registry
As mentioned earlier this problem occurs as a result of corrupted registry. When installing windows always a copy of registry is created. Using this copy the registry could be restored manually. This operation will fix system registry file is missing or corrupt error. However before this procedure make sure to backup current registry files.
3. Change Configuration
In some instances the computer could boot normally with the last good configurations. Especially, if the problem only appears to occur recently. In the mode called as '' Last known good configuration '' the computer uses a registry which is flawless. This registry is created during the successful booting process.
To boot from the Last known good configuration,
- Restart the computer
- Press F8 several times after the POST
- Choose '' Last known good configuration '' in the Advanced boot option
4. Create Recovery Drive
Registry corruption and other configuration related issues can be solved effectively by using a recovery drive. In face it is one of the best ways to solve the problem. A recovery drive can be created easily if you are having a working computer with the same OS and a USB drive.
5. Reinstall Windows
If you have tried all the potential solutions and still encountering this error means that there is an underlaying file corruption. Under this condition the only option left is reinstalling windows. By reinstalling windows every windows component is reset back to its default settings. And also all of the problematic software apps and files will be uninstalled.
