The issue can be simple where it can be fixed by the user himself or complicated to the core where it needs a professional's assistance. But the good news is that there are still many ways available for fixing this.

In this article, I will be illustrating the 5 Best Ways to Fix Sound Wont Work On Computer. At last you will know how to solve audio no working in operating systems Windows 7, Windows 8 and Windows 10.

Let's get started,

1. Check the Audio Connections

In order for the audio device to show the relevant output it should be with the proper connections. Under normal circumstances a cable connects the speakers or the headphones with the sound card on the motherboard. Check this cable for any damages and check whether they are properly connected without any loose connections. There are chances where the cable is connected to the wrong line out jack. Therefore make sure that the audio device is plugged into the right line in jack.

And also most of the speakers and headphones contains buttons for controlling volume and muting. Without knowledge these mute button can be pressed making no audio output. Therefore also check the mute buttons whether they are turned on.

2. Update the Audio Drivers

Outdated drivers may be one of the reasons why your computer is refusing to audio output. When users upgrade their Windows OS, incompatible drivers from the previous OS may be still present in the system. Because of this the communication between the Operating system and the sound card is interrupted.

Therefore to overcome this, relevant drivers for the current Windows OS should be installed. You can download the drivers directly from the manufacturer's site or by simply using the device manager.

To update the drivers,

          1. Open the Start Menu
          2. type '' Device Manager ''
          3. Select Sound, video and game controllers
          4. Choose Realtek High Definition Audio
          5. Right click on it
          6. Press Update drivers

If that doesn't fix try uninstalling and reinstalling the audio drivers.

3. Check Sound Settings

The default audio device is the hardware used by your computer for the audio output. Whether you have connected your speakers, headphones, or the earphones only which is selected as the default audio device playsback. There are chances where a audio device you plugged in long time back is still selected as the default audio device. Therefore you have to remove those devices and set the correct audio device as default.

To check Sound settings,

           1. Right click on the small sound icon
           2. Select Playback devices
           3. Choose the Playback device from the list
           4. Press Set defaults

If the audio device is already selected make sure it is not disabled. Disabled audio devices show no audio output.

4. Change Audio Format

For the audio device to deliver the sound output it should have the right audio format. Sometimes the audio format may not be compatible with the audio device. However Windows allows you to change the audio format according to the sound quality.

To change the Audio format,

           1. Right click on the small sound icon
           2. Select Playback devices

Even though Windows troubleshooter will not be able to solve hardware related problems, it is one of the best ways to fix hardware issues.
