on your machine and notice its not getting started. You press the power button over and over again but the result is the same, the CPU will not turn on. This is a clear sign that your computer is encountering some serious issues that prevents it from starting up.
Like a vehicle your system too needs some maintenance in order for them to function properly, failing to give them enough care may make them unable to start. Whether you have a brand new or an old pc, startup problems can happen unexpectedly. Some of them can be complex and some can be easily fixed by the user. Generally when a windows computer encounters a startup problem it automatically tries to resolve from the startup repair. Apart from startup repair there are many other ways that is proved effective in fixing this.
In this article, I am going to tell you on How to Fix Your Computer If It Wont Turn On. The tips given in this tutorial can be applied to all the versions of the windows 7, windows 8 and windows 10 to solve problems that prevents it from booting up.
Let's move to the topic,
1. Check the Power Supply
Power in the form of electricity is the energy needed for the computer to function. Like how human will not be able to survive without food, the computer cannot function without enough power. If the fans inside the system does not spin, lights are not blinking and the display is blank then definitely there is a power issue. So it is obvious that your pc do not turn on if it doesn't receive enough power.
There are many reasons why the computer fails to receive sufficient power. One of them may be faulty Power Supply Unit (PSU). Therefore check the PSU for any damages and make sure that the switch on it is turned on. And also examine the power cord of the power supply for any tears or loose connections. If you are using a laptop computer, charge the laptop for few hours to see if the issue persists. If the issue still continues remove the battery and connect the laptop directly to a wall outlet.
2. Check the Monitor
There are other cases where the monitor or the graphics card you use may have some problems. If you hear the fans spinning and led lights are blinking but nothing appears on the screen then the monitor has an issue displaying the relevant output.
Before you come into the conclusion that the monitor has malfunctioned or the graphics card is dead, check the power cord and the VGA cables whether they are having any loose connections. If possible try to connect the power cord directly to a wall outlet instead of a surge protector. In spite of doing all these if still the monitor does not display anything, connect your CPU to a different monitor to check whether you are experiencing the same issue.
3. Check Internal Hardwares
Internal hardware components of a computer include the Motherboard,RAM, Processor, Hard drive and the Graphics card. If any of those devices is faulty or has a loose connection the computer will have trouble booting. Out of those hard drive failure is very common.
If you are a desktop user you can easily remove the case and check those hardware components. In the case of a laptop it can be quite harder. Therefore remove the case and look for physical damages in the internal components. And also check whether they are properly seated into their respective ports. If possible try to turn on your computer without those hardware components.
4. Remove External Devices
Apart from internal hardware components there are other chances where the external devices may cause this issue. This includes devices such as the keyboard, mouse, speakers, webcam, USB flash drives and the SD memory cards. If any of those devices is faulty it prevents the computer from booting. Therefore shutdown the system and disconnect all the peripherals. Now restart normally to check whether the issue continues.
5. Perform Hard Reset
Hard reset is a process where your system is reverted back to the state when it was brand new. All the operating systems especially the Windows are prone to software and other issues. Resetting can be one of the ways to fix these unknown problems which includes many problems during startup. A hard reset can clear all the informations present in the memory.
To perform Hard reset,
1. Turn off your Laptop completely.2. Remove the battery and the power code.
3. Disconnect all the peripheral components.
4. Now press and hold the Power button for 10 to 15 seconds.
5. Insert your Battery back to the Laptop.
6. Turn on your computer and start Windows normally.
7. Connect back all the peripheral devices.
